Room 504, Saturday Evening

After a handwavy day of training that had left her tired and achy, but in a good mood, Ino was sprawled out on her bed, hair still damp from a shower, and making faces at the latest book she was attempting to read. For something that had the word 'basic' in its title... it wasn't very basic at all.

And the dictionary she was flipping through only helped so much. Geez. She considered writing to the author and complaining about false advertising.

Or maybe she'd just fling it at the wall. The thunk it made was very satisfying.

Ino actually paused and considered that. Her eyes remained narrowed though, "What's wrong with just saying straight out what you mean, and then letting people choose?"

"There's nothing wrong with it. It's just not the way I do things, usually." Kabuto stretched, resting an arm around Ino and pulling her a little bit closer. "I don't make peoples' decisions for them."

She didn't object to being closer. Ino thought about what he'd said, "Isn't that hard sometimes? If someone is making a mistake I always get the urge to go and point it out."

"It's their mistake to make," Kabuto replied, shrugging. "I'm not going to force them to change their minds."

"What if their mistake winds up affecting you?" Ino asked, squirming a bit to get more comfortable, "Not even then?"

"I can look out for myself," Kabuto told her. "There's nothing to worry about, there."

[intraspective]

"I wasn't worrying about you." She said flatly, "It was just a question, geez. I know you can look out for yourself."

"Just making sure," he said, smiling. Leaning against Ino, Kabuto kissed her cheek lightly.

Ino let him, but she looked suspicious. "Was that a 'you're so naive it's cute' kiss or just a 'I felt like it' kiss?"

It was nice either way, but still. That wasn't the point.

"I thought you liked it when I kissed you?" Kabuto asked in response.

[intraspective]

"That," Ino said with great dignity, "barely counts as a kiss." A pause. "And that's not the point, anyway."

But yes, she did like it.

"So, what is the point?" Kabuto asked, staying very close to her.

[intraspective]

"I like knowing when I'm being made fun of." Ino told him steadily, "Please answer the question."

"I'm not making fun of you, Ino," he told her seriously.

[intraspective]

"Thank you, that's what I wanted to know." Ino looked away, "I never can tell with you, you know." She didn't even know if he was telling the truth right now.

"It's not that hard to figure out," Kabuto told her. "I'm sure you'll learn."

[intraspective]

That made her laugh, just a little, "I'm a slow learner I guess, because everyone that knows you says to stay away." Ino shrugged slightly, "I'm making up my own mind about things."

"Stay away?" Kabuto repeated. "What, from me?"

[intraspective]

"Yeah, and to listen to you as little as possible." Ino looked at him, "I'm not so good with listening to other people, obviously."

"Hmm. Should I take that as a compliment?" Kabuto asked teasingly, reaching up to tug gently at Ino's ponytail holder.

[intraspective]

"If you want to," Ino let him pull her hair out of its holder, amusement in her eyes, "I think it's more that the warning came too late. I don't give up in the middle of something."

"Are we in the middle of something?" Kabuto asked, running his fingers through her hair. "I thought you weren't calling it that..."

[intraspective]

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said impishly, "I'm totally in the middle of a challenge."

He wasn't too bad at playing with hair, himself. Mmmm.

"Riiight..." Kabuto smiled, playing his fingers through her soft, blonde hair. He could do it to her, too. "I'm your challenge?"

"Definitely." Ino told him, with a smile and letting her eyes fall half shut, "I don't like being bored."
