Room 504, Saturday Evening

After a handwavy day of training that had left her tired and achy, but in a good mood, Ino was sprawled out on her bed, hair still damp from a shower, and making faces at the latest book she was attempting to read. For something that had the word 'basic' in its title... it wasn't very basic at all.

And the dictionary she was flipping through only helped so much. Geez. She considered writing to the author and complaining about false advertising.

Or maybe she'd just fling it at the wall. The thunk it made was very satisfying.

"I'm not that strange," Kabuto countered, pulling her right up against him and keeping his arms around her. "I know stranger."

This was... really comfortable. Ino relaxed easily and rested her head on him, "I'm sure you do," she agreed, "considering who visited you for Parents Weekend and all."

"He's not strange," Kabuto insisted. "Sasori is much, much stranger."

Ino tilted her head to look up at him, "Who is Sasori?"

"Sasori is a member of the Akatsuki...you'll learn more about them in the future." Kabuto shook his head. "He's...well, he's strange."

[intraspective]

"You could tell me more now though... unless it'll mess up my future directly, right?" Ino prodded, "How is he strange?"

"He's a puppet master," Kabuto told her, his voice growing somewhat colder. "I'd rather not go into details, if you don't mind."

[intraspective]

Puppet master? Ino considered that. Most of them traditionally came from Suna if she recalled right...

She shivered slightly at the chill in his voice and her voice, when she spoke, was deliberately pitched to be soothing. "We can talk about something else then." Ino flailed for a topic. "What's your favourite time of the day?"

Well, that was random.

That really was random. It took Kabuto by surprise. "Um? I'm kind of a morning person, but I like night as well, I suppose. They're quieter times."

Hey, at least he wasn't talking in that chill sort of voice anymore. Ino counted that as a win. "You don't really like socializing?" A pause. "Doesn't that make gathering information difficult at times?"

"It's better for my work," Kabuto said, shrugging slightly. "Being interrupted makes it take that much longer to get something done."

[intraspective]

That made her frown slightly. "So do you like the quiet because of your work?" 'Cause that seemed kinda like... he had nothing but work. "Or for some other reason?"

"Both. It's useful for work, and I simply like the solitude at times." He reached up to ruffle her hair. "Not everyone enjoys screaming fights."

[intraspective]

Ino wriggled and batted at his hand, "Stop that!" A pause. "And I don't always fight. I like to garden after all. That's pretty quiet."

"It is," Kabuto agreed, smoothing her hair back down where he'd messed it up and gently working out any new knots. "You just tend to be much...louder...than I am."

[intraspective]

She supposed it was alright if he messed her hair up as long as he fixed it afterwards. "Can't help that, I'm afraid," Ino told him, "it's genetic. Both my parents are loud too."

"Good to know." Kabuto kept playing with her hair. There was something almost theruputic about it. "And it's also nice that you can be quiet. You aren't like Naruto-kun."

[intraspective]

He was making her sleepy with it. Ino laughed a bit at that, "Naruto wouldn't know the meaning of silence."

"Which is interesting, considering who his father is..." Kabuto shook his head. "Ah well. There are some things with genetics that just can't be predicted." He leaned back, dragging Ino with him, until he was lying down again...with her half on his chest.

She squeaked and there was more than a handful of moments spent in pure contemplation of this new position. It was kinda nice though, she decided eventually, and he was warm. Ino shifted to get more comfortable, and peered up at him, "Do you know anything about his mother?" Ino asked, "Maybe it came from her?"

"Probably. I never met her, though...so I wouldn't be able to tell you for sure." Kabuto reached up with his free hand, taking his glasses off and folding them carefully.

Ino watched this with sleepy eyes, "You staying here then?" She wasn't planning to move.

"Unless you want me to leave," he replied, setting his glasses on the stand by the bed. He didn't intend to move unless she really wanted him gone.

"No," she buried her head against him and closed her eyes, "you can stay. You're nice and warm."

"Okay. Good to know." Kabuto closed his eyes as well, tightening his arm around Ino. "Goodnight, Ino-san."
