Room 504, Tuesday Morning

Ino... had heard radio. Thanks a lot, radio.

Ino was now contemplating hiding in her room for the rest of the day just in case Temari-san had heard, and took offense, to what had been said.

It didn’t look much like she was hiding, since she had the door open and was ostensibly just doing a thorough check up on all of her many plants. She was honest enough with herself though to know that she was hiding. If Temari-san had really wanted to have words with her then a closed door was hardly going to stop her.

Just... staying out of Temari-san’s way sounded like a real good idea right about now. So that's what Ino was doing.

Of course she was, he'd started to notice. "Fine. Then ask," he crossed his arms.

"So, why do you care if I'd been out kissing people?"

She hadn't, but still.

It just had to be that question? It couldn't be something stupid like... He wasn't sure what, but still. "I don't," he bristled. "It's... It's not because we... that doesn't mean... You can do what you want." So not answering the question. He was bad at this.

She eyed him.

"I don't think anyone would consider that a real answer."

He glared at her for a long moment."I haven't kissed anyone. Okay?" He didn't mean just since last week and his eyebrows weren't un-knitting in the next hour or so.

More considering. "...I was your first kiss?" Blankly.

That earned her another glare and a mumble as he looked away, considering the door.

"It was, wasn't it?" said slowly.

"Yeah," he finally relented and he looked back at her. "So?"

"I didn't know," she said simply.

He shrugged. "That's it?" He meant for her questions, but then it might be easily misconstrued.

She considered him and shrugged.

"It's a good thing to know," Ino said, mulling over it. "Any questions for me?"

Several probably, but after what he just said they all felt like a bad idea. "Not really."

"It's a free chance," she reminded him. "Ask me anything and I've got to answer, instead of playing games."

He hesitated and scratched at his jaw. "Did you like it?"

Ino wished she could play games with that, pretend she didn't get his meaning, but she'd said she wouldn't.

"Yeah," Ino said, fiddling with her hair.

The corner of his mouth twisted up briefly, but he didn't smile. He didn't know what to say either so he got up from the bed and went to inspect one of the plants on her desk.

"Somehow," she said, following him with her gaze. "I'm not sure what I expected you to say to that."

"I'm not sure either," he said honestly, touching a leaf of the plant. "What are you supposed to say?"

She shrugged. "You're the one having all the issues 'bout it."

"I don't have issues," he protested instantly. Maybe just a little.

"Liar," she said, smiling slightly.

He shrugged. "It's okay. I just... hadn't expected it?"

[intraspective]

"Hadn't expected the kiss, or hadn't expected me to do it?"

Or both, really.

"Or... for you to like it...?"
