Room 504, Thursday After Classes

[intraspective]

After class found Ino laying sprawled out on her bed and resisting the urge just to fall asleep. It would totally screw over her regular schedule if she slept now and woke up at, like, one in the morning. Instead, she was trying to study the notebook Kabuto had given her.

She wasn’t retaining much though. Ino buried her head in her arms and sighed. Was it later yet?

Ino left the door open in hopes that someone would stop by and help keep her awake.

"Someone else got hurt, then?" he guessed.

[intraspective]

"Cable-san collapsed into a coma." Ino said moodily. "He says he's fine now, or I'd still be there but still. A coma."

"...yeah, not good", Michael agreed. "But he woke up now?"

[intraspective]

"Yeah, he's awake and I escorted him back to his apartment last night." Ino wrinkled her nose, "His mind is really complicated though, it gave me such a headache to work with it."

"You're a telepath?" he asked, looking down at her curiously.

[intraspective]

"Not really," Ino said, "just a few family skills along those lines. Getting into people's minds is kinda the family tradition."

"Sounds kinda like telepathy", he said with a shrug, then changed the subject. "So... your friend's awake and went home on his own. Why aren't you catching up on that sleep?"

[intraspective]

"I can't read minds. It's not telepathy." She insisted. "And I can't sleep because it'll mess up my sleeping pattern if I go to bed now," Ino said patiently, "so I've got to stay up until it's late enough that I'll get up like normal tomorrow."

"I guess", he said, frowning. "But you'll get sick if you go without sleep."

[intraspective]

"I'll get sleep tonight," Ino said, smiling, "and if I catch a cold or anything I'll just get Kabuto to heal me."

"I guess that'll just have to do", he said, mock-long-suffering.

[intraspective]

She rolled her eyes, poking him in the side, "I'll be fine. Really."

"Well, good", he said firmly. "Or I'd have to break my no-clinic thing."

"No-clinic thing?" Ino asked, "What did they ever do to you?"

He shrugged.

"Habit. I don't get sick, but I wouldn't go to doctors back home anyway."

[intraspective]

"Don't get sick?" She glanced at him, reminded of Kabuto, "Everyone gets sick sometimes. And what's wrong with the doctors back home?"

"Not me. Never have." He shrugged. "And it's not wrong with them, so much, it's... I don't want anyone to get too curious and go with the blood tests and stuff."

"Would it matter?" She wondered, "Blood tests aren't that big a deal, really, if you're like scared of them or something."

"I'm not scared", he insisted. "But... yeah, it kind of is a big deal."

[intraspective]

"Why? I mean, you hiding something or what?" Ino looked thoughtful, "Because that's the only reason I can think of to not go."

There was a silence for a minute or two.

Then, "Look, okay - Isabel says most folks around here already know, so it can't - yes. I'm hiding something, at least back there. I'm not human."

The last was blurted, before he could change his mind.

Ino nodded slowly, "That... would make blood tests awkward, yes." It wasn't like she didn't already hang out with people who weren't human.

"Alien?" She grinned up at him. "Can you turn green?" Her way of showing she really didn't care about it.

He appreciated that, and relaxed a little.

"Never tried. Isabel probably could, she's good with changing the colour things are."

"Teddy goes green and scaly," Ino offered, hoping he'd relax more, "it's neat. He's my bigger brother's boyfriend." Which... probably wasn't much help in identifying him.

"...hm. I think I might've met Teddy, but he wasn't green then. We're gonna go blow up rocks."
