Room 504, Thursday After Classes

[intraspective]

After class found Ino laying sprawled out on her bed and resisting the urge just to fall asleep. It would totally screw over her regular schedule if she slept now and woke up at, like, one in the morning. Instead, she was trying to study the notebook Kabuto had given her.

She wasn’t retaining much though. Ino buried her head in her arms and sighed. Was it later yet?

Ino left the door open in hopes that someone would stop by and help keep her awake.

"I'm not scared", he insisted. "But... yeah, it kind of is a big deal."

[intraspective]

"Why? I mean, you hiding something or what?" Ino looked thoughtful, "Because that's the only reason I can think of to not go."

There was a silence for a minute or two.

Then, "Look, okay - Isabel says most folks around here already know, so it can't - yes. I'm hiding something, at least back there. I'm not human."

The last was blurted, before he could change his mind.

[intraspective]

Ino nodded slowly, "That... would make blood tests awkward, yes." It wasn't like she didn't already hang out with people who weren't human.

"Alien?" She grinned up at him. "Can you turn green?" Her way of showing she really didn't care about it.

He appreciated that, and relaxed a little.

"Never tried. Isabel probably could, she's good with changing the colour things are."

[intraspective]

"Teddy goes green and scaly," Ino offered, hoping he'd relax more, "it's neat. He's my bigger brother's boyfriend." Which... probably wasn't much help in identifying him.

"...hm. I think I might've met Teddy, but he wasn't green then. We're gonna go blow up rocks."

[intraspective]

"He's not usually green. Blow up rocks?" Ino laughed, "Why?"

"Help him with his powers. Okay, so maybe it'd be more like breaking rocks, but blowing them up sounds better."

[intraspective]

"Ooooh, training. That'd work I guess." She grinned, "But that's such a totally guy thing to say that blowing them up sounds better."

"What, you don't think so?" he teased.

[intraspective]

She stuck her tongue out at him. "I'm not a guy, it doesn't matter if I think it sounds cooler that way or not."

"Meh. Explosions are always cool."

Give him a year or two's canon experience and he'd stop thinking that way, but for now he was still only sixteen.

[intraspective]

"They're cool from a distance," Ino admitted, "but less so if an enemy ninja is trying to explode you." Not, mind, that anything had ever happened to her like that. But Ino had definitely learned about it in the Academy.

"...yeah, being personally exploded I'll give you as an exception."

[intraspective]

"How generous of you," Ino teased, "how positively magnanimous."

"I'm a generous guy."

He leaned back, grinning.

[intraspective]

"Uh huh," Ino raised her eyebrows at him, "Prove it."

"Don't have much money to be splashy with", he warned her. "Otherwise, name it."

[intraspective]

"Who said it's got to involve money?" She asked with a grin, "There are other ways of being generous..."

"This is what I was saying." He looked down at her and grinned back. "Got something in mind?"

[intraspective]

Ino tilted her head at him and looked coy, "I don't know," she grinned, "how about a kiss?"

"Sounds reasonable", he decided, and leaned down to pay up at once.

[intraspective]

Mmmmm, kiss.

"Glad you think so," Ino murmured, meeting him halfway, "hate to think it was an imposition to kiss me."

"Never", was all there was time to say. His hand tangled in her hair, almost teasingly.
