Room 504, Saturday Noonish

[intraspective]

After training with Liir, which la, is still in progress, Ino had had another shower and was now puttering around her room and fussing with her plants.

She was debating going out. After all she did tend to go see A.J. often on Sundays but...

Ugh. Ino just didn't feel like being social today, really. Nonetheless, she left the door open a bit.

[Expecting one, but otherwise entirely open as well!]

"We work in pairs. Each 'fratello' is a girl and her trainer." Triela's face twisted into a conflicted sort of expression, "Mine's Hilshire."

"... and that's a bad thing?" Ino asked, looking curious.

"I don't know," Triela sighed. "Hilshire's... well, he's Hilshire."

Because that explained everything.

Maybe it did to her.

That got a rueful shrug. "You sound a bit like me when I say everything is complicated."

"We get along," Triela countered defensively, even if Ino hadn't suggested otherwise.

Then she moved to change the subject, "Aren't things always complicated with you, though?"

That got a mildly raised eyebrow. "I never said you didn't."

"And sure, things are, but that's life." Ino was going for vague today, yes. "You deal, and move on."

"True," Triela nodded. Which of Ino's statements she was agreeing with wasn't clear.

Then her tone shifted slightly, becoming a bit sympathetic, "And are you? Dealing, that is?"

Ino wasn't particularly fond of where this conversation was going, no.

"Oh, you know, well enough I guess. Mood's all over the place though."

"Sometimes it helps to talk about it, you know," Triela offered, somehow managing to add "and sometimes it doesn't" without actually saying that part.

"And have people tell me I'm wrong again?" Ino asked. "Because that's always, you know, not fun." A beat. "You've killed people, right? The people that you killed, what were they to you?"

"Targets," Triela answered without hesitating, her voice suddenly devoid of emotion.

[intraspective]

Ino wasn't sure if the sudden lack of emotion was a good thing or not, but the answer was definitely...

Well. The most similar to hers.

"We're taught that," she said, flopping on her bed. "To think like that, because they don't matter except that they're dangerous to us. Apparently though, that way of thinking is... bad." Dark eyes. "By general consensus around here."

"Targets," Triela repeated, shaking her head. "Thinking of them any other way means that I'm making the decision about whether to kill them or not."

Her voice grew softer, "I'm too dangerous to do that."

"Too dangerous for 'empathy'," with the air-quotes, "well, I don't think that's a problem. Do you?"

"Nope," Triela answered easily with a shake of her head. "It's better that way, really. I mean, even if I could care I'm sure I wouldn't want to. What does that get you anyway? Besides too hesitant to do what needs doing, I mean."

[intraspective]

"That's what I think," Ino said. "You can't just go 'round caring 'bout the people you're going to kill--who'd do that? You'd go crazy--but apparently not caring 'bout them is, like, worse? I really don't get it."

"I wonder," Triela's slim finger rose up to tap her chin in thought, "If the people who think that have ever killed anyone. Because I can't see how someone could think that if they had."

[intraspective]

"Oh, that'd be too easy. But Cable-san thinks that, though he's a lot less disproving of it on the whole, and so does Deadpool-san--he says that I've got psychopathic tendencies--and Lieutenant Kerrigan's the one that really thinks it's messed up what I think. So, yeah," Ino twisted around on her bed to lay on her stomach, "I'd say they've killed things."

"Huh," Triela frowned. "I would have thought all of them would understand this better. Sometimes you have to kill people, it's the only way. And there's no point feeling bad about that."

[intraspective]

"But apparently it's okay kill them--if you feel bad about it afterwords, or something. Which... makes no sense at all. I don't get it. No one could live properly that way."

Ino shrugged, legs kicking at the air slightly. "Come sit down, if you want. The Lieutenant's also a lot upset 'bout my age, as if that really makes a difference."

"Weird," Triela sat down as invited, still frowning. "I'm not surprised by you teaching bears to fight, but I am surprised by the fact that people think that way."

"I guess Fandom hasn't prepared me for everything."

[intraspective]

"Like, if it was civilians saying that, it'd be one thing," Ino said. "But it's not, and that's where I'm confused."

"Well," Triela shrugged easily, "I think you're right. You can't keep doing what has to be done if you feel sorry about it all the time."

[intraspective]

"That does make me feel better," Ino admitted. "Finding someone that agrees with me, I mean. Because I don't think the way I think is weird, at all."

"Maybe," Triela tapped her chin slowly, "It's because they're trying to decide who deserves to die? Maybe it's just what happens if you try to pick targets and kill targets at the same time."
