Corner of the Gardens, Sunday Evening

There were only a few places that Ino wanted to be, one of where she was supposed to be—Fight Club—and none where she could get away from stupid things like her boyfriend leaving so he could fight a war on his world and the awful fact that he wasn't coming back.

He wasn't. Coming. Back.

And, again, she'd been left behind. She curled up under one of the stupid trees Dor had put in her garden, and stared moodily over her green domain. (No, Ino didn't care that it was technically the school's domain.)

Ugh.

[Establishy, though open if your character would be in the gardens during the evening/call her for some reason, I suppose.]

Hurley himself was looking to find Ino, since she'd always been a good friend and confidant. When he found her in the gardens, she seemed less happy than he did.

"...Oh, man. Are you okay?" he said.

[intraspective]

She blinked up at him. "I'm fine," Ino said, though that was a lie. "Just thinking. Hey."

Hurley knew that 'just thinking' was always a euphemism. He used that one himself. "Hey," he said back. "Mind if I join you?"

She lifted one shoulder in a careless half-shrug. "Suit yourself. I'm not real exciting tonight though."

"Exciting isn't all it's cracked up to be," Hurley said, sitting down next to her. "I like stuff being simple, more than exciting."

She gave a bit of a sigh at that. "I don't mind exciting most of the time."

"Yeah, but exciting can end up bad," Hurley said. "Like... zombies."

[intraspective]

"You can fight zombies," she pointed out. "Feelings are fail on the fighting."

That sentence had issues. Ino didn't care.

Hurley looked over at Ino, like he actually totally understood that. And he kinda did. "You want to talk about it?"

[intraspective]

She shifted slightly, leaning towards him.

"Ichigo's leaving," she said tonelessly. "And he's not coming back. He needs to fight a war."

That hit Hurley, right in the gut. He leaned in a bit too.

"That sucks," he said, not knowing what else one could say.

[intraspective]

"Yeah," she said, a bit lost. "Didn't really, couldn't really argue with that. I'd leave too if a war broke out."

"Yeah, that's kinda... important," Hurley said. "But, there's no chance? Not even if the war is won and stuff?"

She shook her head. "He's not coming back," Ino said, fiddling with her hair. "That's what he decided."

"You want a hug?" Hurley offered. "Or ice cream or something?"

"A hug would be nice," she admitted, ducking her head.

Hurley scooted a bit closer, so he could hug her properly.

"I kinda know... a lot of how you feel," he said.

She hugged back, glad for the contact. "How so?" Ino asked, looking up at him.

"My dad kinda... walked out on my family," Hurley shared. "Left and never came back."

Ino blinked once, slowly, at that. "People shouldn't just disappear."

It was hypocritical--she was a ninja, she helped make people disappear.

"Not when they've--got a choice."

Hurley could really agree with that. "Yeah," he said. "So, like... how about I promise never to just disappear? Ever. Cause I think I can make that."

[intraspective]

She glanced at him dubiously. "No one can promise that."

"Yeah, well... I'm not gonna go off to fight any wars or just quit on Fandom or go off to England to marry some idiot nobleman," Hurley said. "I'm, like... I'm good old reliable Hurley, you know?" He kinda wanted to be that.

She sighed, touched despite herself. "Nothing wrong with being reliable," Ino admitted. "I just don't think people will stick around."
