Room 504, Sunday Late Evening

It had been a day spent dealing with two of four of the children, and Ino was pretty sure she’d gotten the easy two. Isae had wanted to window shop, and Ken had been pleased enough to walk with them while she asked questions about his classes. Then she and Ken had gone to Fight Club.

“Isae, honey, we’re back,” Ino said, pushing the door open. “Have you seen Masaki, or Masaru around yet?”

“Nuh huh,” Isae said, while Ken took a seat on the floor. “Otousan’s probably going to be back soon. Masaki’s a baby and’ll need sleep! I don’t need sleep yet, Okaasan. Honest!”

Happy to be on her feet, Masaki instantly moved to hug Ken. "I played hide and seek and then Otousan showed us things."

Masaru strangely enough seemed to be satisfied where he was and he snuggled back against Ino. "Otousan was silly," he told her.

"He's always silly," she said agreeably, grinning at Ichigo. "But was it fun sort of silly?"

"We went shopping!" Isae said, clinging to Ichigo. "And then I got to read while Okaasan and Ken went to a fighting club, and now Okaasan says it's time for bed but I'm not sleepy!"

Yes she was.

Ken laughed as he hugged Masaki back. "Are you getting better at hide and seek? Hide and seek is good practice."

She wrinkled her nose. "No, 'cos I hid with Nate and he's not a ninja, so he's not good at it. And Otousan wouldn't let us leave the room." So it was all Otousan's fault.

Yeah okay, so the babbling was kind of cute and Ichigo let Isae cling. "Did you buy anything?"

Masaru had no problem tuning out the rest of the room as he talked to Ino. In fact, he made sure to talk louder so she could hear him best.

"He got his feet wet. That was funny," he told Ino, because while Ken had been able to stop the whole beach argument yesterday, Masaru had had free range today.

"Who is Nate?" Ken asked patiently. "And Otousan was just making sure he didn't lose you, because losing you would be bad."

"I got a new book!" she said, pointing at it. "It's the meta for A Little Princess, and I'm already fifty pages in!"

She'd had the quiet time after all.

"And Okaasan took us out for lunch and we got spaghetti."

"Indoor voice," she reminded Masaru, ruffling his hair. "What were you three doing to get your feet wet?"

See, now Ino just had to get rid of those shoes and socks he was wearing.

"He's a boy who was nice to me, but Masaru said he was dumb," she made a face, clearly not agreeing.

"That's a lot. I'm guessing it's a good book then?" Ichigo's knees were protesting so he stood up and picked Isae up with him so they could sit on the bed beside Ino. "We had hamburgers."

"He was chasing us and then there was a wave and then he was saying bad words cause his feet were wet!" Masaru was giggling.

"Well," Ken said, smiling. "I guess I'd have to see, huh? And then we'd know if he's dumb?"

"It's about a girl who goes to this boarding school and she gets along and tells people stories about Indiiiia and then bad stuff happens!"

She snuggled into his lap. "I had a hamburger last night! Uncle Chad made it for me!"

Go Isae, break Ichigo's brain.

"You guys went to the beach?" she said, raising her eyebrows at 'Otousan', "I hope you told Otousan that bad words weren't supposed to be said."

"He's not," Masaki frowned. They just hadn't been very good at hiding.

Yep, there was definitely breaking right there. So much so that he could pretend not to notice Ino's look. "You saw Chad?"

Masaru nodded. "We did," he said, which could have been an answer to either. "You always tell him not to, but he's not good at listening."

"Good thing I'm persistent, yeah?" Ino said, laughing. "To make sure he doesn't forget as much as he might otherwise."

"I'm sure he's not," Ken replied, tugging her over so that they could sit on the bed. "But it doesn't hurt to check, right? You've got to be careful when you're a ninja."

"Uh huh!" Isae said, beaming. "And he gave me a hug, and said that organizing things was a good thing, and that I was a good girl!"

Maybe. Isae wasn't the most accurate reporter.

"And then Orden said I was his girlfriend 'cause I was awesome."

Masaru nodded solemnly. "Aunt Rukia says he's lucky to have you 'cos he is hopeless."

Masaki considered her brother's words and then nodded in agreement. "I'm careful," she said as she crawled on the bed and if anyone asked, that wasn't a yawn.
