Room 504, Monday Evening

Ino lay sprawled out on her bed, hair down, with a blanket wrapped around her shoulders. She was staring moodily at the rest of her room and wondering if she ought to go over her class notes for Thursday just to make sure she hadn't forgotten anything.

They were over on the desk somewhere though and she didn't feel like getting up to find them. None of her other books were interesting tonight and looking at the scrolls from home only made her cranky.

Oh, what to do?

Maybe someone would come and distract her? Her door was wide open. Ino eyed it with vague hope.

Kabuto caught it easily in both hands. And then the pillow exploded in a flurry of feathers cotton stuffing material.

Ino gaped at him. "I need that pillow!"

"Then don't throw it away," Kabuto advised her, tossing back the empty pillowcase.

[intraspective]

Ino caught the pillowcase and glowered at him. "It would serve you right if I stole yours."

"If you can steal it, you're welcome to it." He just wasn't going to mention anything about the pillow's history. It was completely up to Ino if she wanted to sleep on something that belonged to Kabuto.

Ino crossed her arms over her chest and looked at him dubiously. There had to be a catch in there somewhere, right? She couldn't tell what it was though.

...

She eyed her empty pillowcase, "Do you know where to go to get a replacement?"

"There's probably something at one of the stores in town," Kabuto told her. "Turtle and Canary, possibly." He shrugged. "I've never shopped for a pillow. I brought mine from home."

[intraspective]

... Ino decided the best thing to do? Was not think about Kabuto's pillow anymore. It lead to brain breaky when she thought about what he'd been getting up to on the weekend.

"I work tomorrow!" Ino objected, "I don't want to spend my lunch break buying a pillow. You're the one that killed it."

"You're the one who threw it at me," Kabuto countered genially. "Don't throw away what you want to keep," he advised.

"I didn't know you were going to blow it up!" Ino protested, "That's a bit of an over-reaction!"

"I barely did anything," Kabuto replied. "It's not my fault your pillow can't handle chakra."

[intraspective]

"Pillows aren't meant to handle chakra! They aren't alive!"

"And your point?"

[intraspective]

"So it is your fault! You're the medic! You should know that!" Ino stomped over to where he was standing, "There was no need to explode my pillow."

"You seem to really enjoy bringing up the fact that I'm a medic," Kabuto observed, tilting his head to the side. "Has it never occurred to you that a medic is just as capable of killing as any other ninja - possibly even better at it?"

[intraspective]

"I know that!" Ino crossed her arms, "But that's not all you can do!"

"No, and it's not all I do. I've healed you several times, haven't I?"

[intraspective]

"It was just a pillow." Ino muttered, already calculating how long it would take her to go and buy a pillow tomorrow. Then she blinked. "Oh, that's right! What do I owe you for that?"

Kabuto shrugged. "I haven't figured it out, yet. But thank you for remembering." He smiled brightly. "You're wonderfully honest sometimes."

[intraspective]

Ino blinked and his smile made her frown at him. "I wasn't going to forget! You did me a favour, and you're supposed to repay those."

"I'd say you could buy me dinner this weekend and we could go on our 'date' so you can wear your dress, but..." Kabuto smiled secretively. "I might not be here this weekend. It's better not to plan things if I'm not certain I'll even be around."

"You're not going to be around?" Ino asked, "Why not?"

"I might be going home for the weekend," Kabuto explained. "So I'm not absolutely certain if I'll be here or not."

[intraspective]

"Oh." It was stupid to be disappointed that he might not be around right? Ino's eyes narrowed, "You're going off to get hurt again, aren't you. If you go?"

Kabuto raised his eyebrows. "Doesn't that come with the territory of being a ninja?"
