Room 505, Friday Evening

[intraspective]

Ino had freshly brewed tea in a teapot, two cups, several medical textbooks, a notebook with questions scribbled in it, her hairbrush, a change of clothes, and chocolate. A fair bit of chocolate actually, even though he probably wouldn't eat it. She had tea biscuits though if he wanted something. Ino was thoughtful!

Even with the help of a bag it was rather a lot for her to carry all in one trip. So, when she crossed the hall, with the bag slung over her shoulder and carrying the tea and cups on a tray, Ino found herself without a way to knock. Oh well. Too late now. Since her hands were full, she decided on the next best thing.

No, she didn't kick the door.

She flared her chakra instead. Once, twice. Three second pause. Once, twice.

He'd better get the idea and open the stupid door.

Kabuto shifted to put his arm around Ino, pulling his knees up to prop the book against his legs. "It's too sweet," he told her, flipping through the pages until he finally got to the table of contents.

"I brought you tea biscuits, if you want them," she said, "because I knew that's what you'd say."

"It's not hard to figure out," Kabuto agreed with a half smile. "Thank you for the alternative." He gave her a little squeeze. "So, I do have to ask...why was this giving you trouble? It's actually a very simple concept." For him. Darn medical ninja.

"You're welcome." Ino wiggled slightly against him, making herself more comfortable, and poked him in the side. "It's not that simple for me. Not all of us have your crazy understanding of it."

"It's easier to understand when you've seen it in action," Kabuto replied. "Or when you've done it yourself. It's easy to understand, but not necessarily easy to accomplish." His hand was light against Ino's waist, his fingers moving a little to tickle her just a bit - retaliation for the poking.

She squirmed a bit, giggling, and one hand sneaking down to trap his hand. "Then how're you supposed to get a good idea of it? If you've got to see it to understand it, and have to understand it to see it in action?"

"You don't have to, but it helps if you don't understand it straight-off." Kabuto hesitated. "But I wouldn't want to show you anything drastic, here. Blood is very annoying to try to get out of rugs."

"And we wouldn't want to set off any alarms or anything," she said, resting her head against him, "I mean, I bet they've got them even if they took our weapons away. You can show me some other time. Maybe I'll get it more just from the way you explain things. You don't waste a paragraph to say a sentence after all."

"They probably do," Kabuto agreed. "If you need a practical demonstration, maybe I'll let you hit me sometime during practice." But maybe not. It kinda hurt.

His explanations were definitely more concise than the ones in the book. He could also use different, more personalized analogies to put it in a more understandable picture.

It was supposed to hurt. Geez.

"I'll keep that in mind the next time you piss me off," Ino said sweetly.

Well, the last time he'd really had to use it, he'd had a rather large hole blasted through his midsection. It hadn't been a very enjoyable experience.

"I'm sure you will."

It was probably fortunate for them then that Ino didn't know the Rasengan.

"I will," she said, "I don't forget anything important like that."

That little fact was probably fortunate for everyone.

"I know you don't. That's a very good trait to have." Though Kabuto said he might let her hit him. Not that he would.

Very probably. Ino's temper was a thing to be feared without adding a jutsu like that to her repertoire.

Ino peeked up at him. "It's not hard to remember things."

She'd try and hit him anyway. Eventually she'd have to connect, right?

She might connect eventually, but it was far more likely that he'd connect before she did. And if he was able to get a hit in first...well, Ino's chances were just about nil, depending on his mood at the time.

"It's not hard to remember things. It's also not hard to figure things out. This, for example." Kabuto nodded toward the book.

Yeah yeah, Ino knew that too. But that was part of the challenge of it.

"Maybe I just like having you help me," Ino said, "and you are better than the book is at explaining."

"That's because I know what I'm talking about, and I know how to put it into smaller words." Kabuto smirked slightly. "I'm not unused to breaking technical terms into more commonly used ones."

[intraspective]

"If there was an insult in that, I'm ignoring it," Ino told him, "I'm sleepy and comfortable and don't feel like getting mad at you."

"It's not quite an insult. Sometimes even Orochimaru-sama gets annoyed with the technical terms." Kabuto closed the book and set it aside, taking a drink of his tea. "So, you're staying here tonight." It wasn't a question.

"Uh huh, I'm not sure if I believe that or not." She sounded dubious but closed her eyes and smiled, "I don't think you're going to kick me out."

"No, I'm not going to kick you out. I am surprised you didn't come in your pajamas." Kabuto squeezed her again, lightly.

"They're in my bag," she said, "optional."

Kabuto blinked at her, then leaned back against the headboard, shaking with laughter.

"What?" Ino asked crossly.

"I'm just amused. You come over here completely expecting not to go back to your room." Kabuto had to lean over and kiss her.
