Room 504, Friday Afternoon
Aug. 27th, 2010 01:17 pmAfter saying goodbye to Hannibal, Ino had wandered back to her room and, upon finding Zack out, had smiled slightly, determinedly, and went about making her own preparations. It was not really necessary to change her clothing into something she'd have worn out on the streets of Midgar—pink, frilly, short (because short she could fight in, and pink and frilly could be worked around and the entire thing made her look ridiculously harmless)—and brush her hair out so that it was a bit fluffier than normal. A tiny bit of make-up to make her eyes look larger and her lips poutier (and her head emptier).
None of that was necessary, no. And yet, in order to get properly into the role it was.
Ino closed her door, but didn't lock it. If Zack came back he'd be concerned by a locked door. Taking a seat at her desk and crossing her legs, Ino took a moment to center herself in order to properly play the role she wanted to here.
(Reno was going to be angry, she thought, then shoved it from her mind.)
Then, she picked up her phone and dialled a number that she wasn't, absolutely wasn't, supposed to have.
Another deep breath and she let an insipid smile cross her face as she waited for the phone to be picked up a world away.
[Primarily for the one on the other end of the line, though open if you want. Door closed.
ETA: That Ino is calling someone is FB, the topics and identity of who she's calling is NFB, please!]

Date: 2010-08-27 07:07 pm (UTC)A beat.
"Oh! Maybe I should ask," and yes, that was ridiculously vapid as her voice lowered down to something that was supposed to be very hush-hushy and failed by a mile, "if you're Tseng of the Turks?"
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 07:09 pm (UTC)"That would depend entirely on who is calling," he informed her, dryness seeping into his tone in spades.
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 07:13 pm (UTC)For her.
Probably less so for him.
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 07:16 pm (UTC)"Ino." There was a moment's pause while Tseng worked to place the name to a face in his head. "Zack's friend. He gave you my number?"
He was going to have words with Zack.
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 07:20 pm (UTC)"Don't be silly!" she chided. "That would absolutely, utterly ruin the surprise!"
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 07:23 pm (UTC)Wonderful.
"The surprise," he repeated, furrowing his eyebrows as he returned the receiver to his mouth. The question of his contact information certainly wasn't forgotten, but it was tabled, for a moment.

Date: 2010-08-27 07:28 pm (UTC)Turks were probably not used to almost baby-talk being tossed liberally in their direction, no.
She laughed. "Anyway! See, you shouldn't let me get so off-track, I'll never get anywhere like this," not his fault, but Ino was willing to share the blame, "but because of Zack's favour, I was hoping if I could ask you for a teensy weeny favour?"
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 07:38 pm (UTC)He didn't take terribly well to being patronized.
"What sort of a favor?"
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 07:45 pm (UTC)Yes, she wouldn't waste his time with anything actually important. It was fun being very very dim.
But cheerful!
"But I was wondering if I could get pictures of Angeal and Zack? From before?" Ino laughed as if she wasn't talking about 'before everything went to hell'. "I was thinking," fear that, Tseng, "that he'd appreciate them but there's utterly no way for little ol' me to get them by myself, and so it came to be that who else would be able to help but the cleverest people of ShinRa?"
Who she was still going to baby-talk at. Ino's persona wasn't bright and totally ignoring the ichor.
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 07:52 pm (UTC)"If you're looking for the most clever, you might consider asking my employer for the same," Tseng replied, dryly, and completely aware that no member of ShinRa's upper-management would have any use for any of this.
No member of ShinRa's upper-management would have humored the girl this long on the phone, either, he noted.
"It wouldn't be impossible for me to get a few such photos," he added, relenting just slightly, because... Because this was presumably for Zack.
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 08:02 pm (UTC)Unless she forgot. Which, with this voice, he had to guess was likely.
"Zack will be so happy!" she gushed.
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 08:07 pm (UTC)"I'm certain he will be," intoned Tseng, in a deadpan that suggested that Zack would be happy if she handed him a package of chewing gum for his birthday, with half the sticks missing.
Because it was true.
"And where would I be sending these photos?"
If she could get his contact information, at the very least, this was an excellent opportunity to obtain hers in turn.
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 08:19 pm (UTC)"I do suppose you'd need to know, wouldn't you?" she laughed brightly, then rattled off the post office's address for Fandom High. It would get to her from there just fine.
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 08:24 pm (UTC)He was going to be saving this girl's phone number as well, though. And if it was at all within his power to do so, he'd be finding out everything that he possibly could about her. He didn't trust her.
"And might I ask how you obtained my contact information? This number is classified."
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 08:37 pm (UTC)"Classified only for some people," she said lightly, knowing now that she had to pick her words carefully. Ino didn't want to get Zack in trouble, after all, even if she'd totally stolen the number from his phone.
And she needed, for this to have a snowball's chance in hell of working, to have him draw a few conclusions. "I was wondering," she continued, chattering brightly over his question while 'answering' it all the same. "Have you heard much about alternate universes? They're all the rage, latest black, totally. Very shushy."
That wasn't even a word.
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 08:40 pm (UTC)"I've heard tell of them," Tseng replied, very certainly on the guard, now. He wasn't going to be giving this girl any more information than he absolutely had to in order to get the answers that he wanted, and now he was acutely aware of the fact that he seemed to be playing a game of mental chess with an individual who wanted him to think that she had the IQ of a Gysahl green.
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 08:51 pm (UTC)So, in the end, it'd be her win anyway. But she was the very cutest girl ever to do a Gysahl green imitation. Absolutely.
"Well," she said, about as conspiratorially as a box of muffins, "there's very many of them, I'm sure you've 'heard tell' of that too? That's so cute, that phrase! Very posh! And as there's so many of them there's also duplicates of universes and doesn't that make total sense, hm? It's like shopping! They've almost always got the same dress in a different size!"
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 08:55 pm (UTC)It took brains to come off as this vapid.
"And how does this concern me?"
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 09:01 pm (UTC)He couldn't see it, but she was twirling a bit of hair around one finger.
"I do try to answer questions, did I answer it wrong?" she asked innocently. "Maybe I shouldn't have talked about dresses? Though some of this years styles are so adorable it's worth a bit of confusion!"
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 09:09 pm (UTC)Which was something along the lines of, "There are other people here from Gaia and from ShinRa and I don't know, like, any of them mostly! And they're all Turks! You send a lot of Turks to this island, Tseng, did you know that? And they all kinda look at me funny."
... Which wasn't particularly helpful.
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 09:16 pm (UTC)That made no sense and she was hurrying on before he killed her with his mind. And yet, smug enough that she'd gotten a reaction like that from him. A winner was her!
"And that's just not right," Ino continued on merrily. "Has Zack mentioned the other Gaias to you?"
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 09:18 pm (UTC)That was about the best response that Ino was getting out of Tseng at this point, yes. Because he currently was attempting to kill her with his brain. To his great dismay, it wasn't working.
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 09:22 pm (UTC)Yes.
"Well," Ino trilled, yes trilled, "then that must mean you understand about other ShinRas and other Turks? Like malls, they multiply! Or shoes left too long in the closet; I swear they breed."
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 09:28 pm (UTC)"I've been made aware that there are a number of Turks currently residing on the island, yes," he replied, unable to keep a decidedly wary note from his voice. He wanted to hear what she had to say now, that was the damnable thing. And all the same, everything that Verdot had taught him had his instincts screaming for him to hang up.
He simply tightened his grip on his PHS and listened.
no subject
Date: 2010-08-27 09:38 pm (UTC)And she'd likely just horrified the poor man that the Turks had sunk so low as to associate deliberately with her, and her IQ equalling that of a box of hair.
As well as both upped her threat level and her potential ally level.
"And they say that you're currently in the past for them. Isn't that odd? Why would anyone want to be backwards? Sideways? Anything but forward, I suppose, I don't really get it. Like a cat in water?"
