Room 504, Tuesday Evening

Reno having been successfully avoided, Zack having gotten his travel permit to her world, and Ino in a totally good mood having scored some chocolate after a quick stop in town... she was pretty sure most of the things in her world were right and good for the moment.

Ino flopped down, radio turned on because, no, she wasn't sick of the carol thing yet, and tugged out one of her notebooks.

This one was red. She figured it was fitting.

Breaking a piece of chocolate and nibbling on it, she set about dividing her list of questions into smaller sections and making notes on which ones she could probably get away with asking Reno. Which ones Zack would answer with no problems, and which ones Elena would probably answer without arousing much suspicion from her.

She hummed absently as she worked, feet kicking idly at the air. It was Good Fun and Good Use of Her Skills to have something like this to do.

Reno was probably wishing she'd never ever thought of it, though. He had no idea how thorough she could be.

"And how is he supposed to guess that from me asking about where he's from?" Jennifer asked.

"Because I'll want to ask him other questions," she said, nodding. "So if you ask and then I ask things, he'll think it's weird."

"Depends on the boy," Jennifer said. "After all, maybe I'm interested too." Hers was an evil smirk.

Ino could picture many many ways to answer that. She bit down the ones that she was sure would get her in some sort of trouble.

"Why then would I tell you?" Ino asked loftily. "I ain't going to share."

She was bad at it, and besides--Jen was hitting vaguely close to the mark anyway, though the matter at hand was entirely different.

"I already have a boy, anyway," Jennifer said. "Well... sort of. Mostly. Kinda."

She frowned. "Sort of, I think, is the right one."

"Sort of?" Ino echoed.

Yes, yes she was interested in hearing this.

"Well, Zack's been a little distant lately," Jennifer said. "Not that I blame him. It sounds like his home world is pretty rough."

[intraspective]

"Zack?" she repeated. "Distant?"

Did not compute.

"Yeah," Jennifer said. "He had just come back from a really rough mission, last time we talked."

"I know 'bout that mission," she said slowly. "But he weren't distant with me."

"...oh," Jennifer said.

She didn't know what to think about that.

But it hurt.

Ino looked apologetic at that.

"Maybe it's 'cause I run missions?" she suggested.

"I guess," Jennifer said. "Or maybe he just was over the shock by then."

"Could be," she said, though her eyes narrowed speculatively as she thought.

"Not worth worrying about, anyway," Jennifer said, lying to herself. "So, I told you a name. Can I get more of a hint on your front?"

[intraspective]

...

"...nope," she said, the picture of innocence. "Can't. Sorry."

She was pretty sure that'd be a dismal idea, yeah.

"Well," Jennifer said. "I still think I can ask without suspicion being cast on you."

[intraspective]

"But where'd the fun be in that?" she wondered idly. "Can't have other people takin' my entertainment."

"Well fine," Jennifer said. "Reject my offer." She chuckled. "I guess I better leave it all to you, then."

"Why thank you," she said, grinning.

And idly wondering if Jen was going to regret that, yeah.

"You're welcome, sis," Jennifer said. "So, I'm going to leave you to your evil planning."

"Don't be a stranger," she said, with a smile and a sort of wave. "Me and my planning will be 'round for a bit."
