Room 504, Sunday Night

[intraspective]

Ino was sprawled out in her jammies, hair damp against her skull, and idly rereading her notes on the latest things her father wanted her to practice on.

Nibbling on candy (she'd totally got it on sale and ha, it was just as good bought as it would've been had she gone around to get it), Ino was in a good mood.

From the candy, from the studying, from what she'd gotten up to today?

Totally all of the above.

Phone ringing meant temporary scramble as she attempted to locate the stupid thing before realizing that it had totally fallen to the side of her bed.

"Hiii?" Ino carolled into her phone.

[raspberryturk]

"Rooookieeeee," Reno crooned right back, grinning as he leaned back in his chair and put his feet up on the desk. And on the paperwork. "They give out prizes for photography nowadays? 'Cause you gotta have a few winnin' shots, here, yo."

[intraspective]

She laughed, rolling over to snag her notebook and wriggled into a more comfortable position. "I don't know if my work would win anything that the general public gets a say on--I mean, they're sorta specialized, really."

[raspberryturk]

"You cater to a specific sorta client, huh? I can appreciate that, zoto."

Reno's phone? Totally on speaker while he looked over the pictures again.

"You know, I think it actually looks better all finished up like that? Any word on how Durden took it, yet? Or you gonna be listenin' to the radio tonight to find out?"

[intraspective]

"Very specific! Radio, definitely," she replied. "I didn't want to stick 'round and risk getting caught, you know? And I needed sleep by that point too. You like the ribbon? I figured it was half your work, the colour had to suit you."

[raspberryturk]

"The ribbon," Reno decided, laughing and squinting to see it more clearly on his teeny screen, "is a real nice touch, yo."

Well, it was!

"So, other'n this, what you been up to lately, Rookie? Missed you last weekend. Sucks."

[intraspective]

Only because the both of them had some rather interesting views on things like torture and stuff, yes. But the ribbon was totally a nice touch in her opinion.

"Got hauled off for training," she said, rolling her eyes. "Dad didn't think 'oh, hey, I want to see people' was a good enough excuse. Got a hold of Romeo for a bit but that was it for you guys, you know?"

"I got to hang out with Romeo an' Doji too," Reno mused, smirking as he thought back on dinners and group hugs.

Yes, he'd totally smuggled half of Cafe Fina's menu back with him to Edge in coolers.

"Almost time for another visit or somethin', Rookie? Trainin's got some pretty shitty timing, zoto."

[intraspective]

"You want a rookie kicking 'round your place for a few days, you name your dates," she laughed. "I ain't so attached to classes that I'm going to give up the chance to go beat the crap out of monsters, yo."

Truth. Pure and simple truth. Monster killing ranked way higher than class to her.

"Dad's just wanting to make sure I'm good when the exam gets a date," Ino excused him. "Prep's underway, but not set yet, so he's fussing."

"You tell him you're takin' a few days offa training to go kill monsters with the big boys on another world, how you figure he'll take the news?" Reno chuckled, and then he was kicking off his shoes.

Yes, onto his paperwork. So?

[intraspective]

"Dad?" Ino found another caramel and unwrapped it. "He'd probably say that 'long as my grades didn't suffer and I didn't die that killing monsters totally counted as training and that I need to get pictures."

"Lighting in Edge don't entirely suck in the daytime for that!"

Yes,the lighting was totally the important part. It wasn't like he was about to worry about the Rookie getting eaten by Kalm Fangs or anything. He'd be there to make sure that didn't happen anyhow.

[intraspective]

"My real camera has a good flash to it too," she noted, "not like my phone which can only do so much, though it tries."

Ino would like to think she was good enough to avoid getting eaten by things. Even if being 'good enough' for that could totally consist of running away if it came to that.

"But dad's pretty good 'bout that sort of thing," Ino continued. "He thinks it's good and expanding my horizons to kill crap on other planets."

"I like your dad," Reno decided, then and there. "Tseng always got pretty bitchy when he found out I was off riskin' life and limb over someone else's business. You should'a seen the stink he raised over Hades, zoto."

Good times. Good times.

[intraspective]

"Of course," she admitted, "if I die, he'll come kill you. Just so you know. But Dad's okay up 'till that point."

Ino ran her free hand through her hair. "Does he get bitchy if you bring other people over to help your business? 'Cause now, that's a bit hypocritical of him."

[raspberryturk]

"That's our Tseng," Reno sighed. "Hypocrite to the core, yo. Though I don't think he's usually very pleased with me gettin' other people involved in Turk business, neither. An' your old man ain't got nothin' to worry about, yo. I take care of my rookies."

He smiled lopsidedly, giving his toes a wiggle as he leaned back farther into his seat. "I wonder how much of Sector Eight's still left, in Midgar. Still ain't gotten a chance to poke around the whole place, yo."

[intraspective]

Ino was going to nibble on a chocolate bar.

"Be interesting spot for some explorin'," she said brightly. "I'm totally votin' field trip, just so you know. And Dad'll be good with that, for sure, 'bout the living then."

Her dad was generally fond of Ino staying alive, yes.

[raspberryturk]

"Tell you what, Rookie. I look into if that area's safe or not, see what the radiation levels are like through the whole city, an' we can poke around someplace that ain't gonna leave either of us droolin' in a coma."

Reno was not a fan of Mako Addiction. At all. But on the upside, at least he didn't look like someone who had spent all of his grocery money on crack anymore.

[intraspective]

"Fiiine," she said, heaving a (mostly faked) sigh. "I suppose we can be all safe an' crap."

Then she laughed.

"And then field trip?"

"And then a field trip," Reno promised, laughing as well. "Turk's honor, yo."

[intraspective]

"Isn't the whole point of being a Turk that other people don't think you got much honour?" Ino asked easily. "Least in the public perception."

[raspberryturk]

"Yeah," Reno replied, smirking lopsidedly at that. "But then, on that note, the less the public knows about the Turks, the better it is for us, yo. Maybe we ain't got a hell of a lot of that honor bullshit, but we do take care of our own."

[intraspective]

Ino considered several answers to that.

"Long as takin' care of your own don't extend to babysitting unnecessarily," she retorted. "'Cause then the 'baby' is going to get violent."

[raspberryturk]

That earned a snort of disdain from Reno, right there.

"Rookie, I don't pull none of that babysittin' duty, yoto. There's a difference between stickin' to the Rookies an' changin' diapers. I like to think you're a big enough girl you can wipe your own ass, yo."

[intraspective]

"I should hope so," she muttered. "Considering, if not, what the hell am I doing 'llowed out on missions?"

Seriously!

"You're mostly the one that gets to make sure your crazy monsters aren't crazy-monsters-that-will-not-die."
