Ino woke up Wednesday morning feeling like someone had stabbed a kunai through her temples. Sitting up took more effort than it should’ve and to make things worse her back was itchy and she couldn’t seem to get warm. There was no point in denying that she was sick, that was obvious, but it irritated her all the same. She’d been fine last night.

Gritting her teeth, Ino managed to get out of bed and stumbled over to her door. She doubted that she’d make it to the Town Hall under her own power but across the hall would be doable, right?

It was. Eventually. There was something to be said for being stubborn.

She knocked weakly on his door. Then closed her eyes, the light was making her head worse, and leaned against the door shivering all the while. Kabuto would be able to make her feel better, right?

[For Kabuto! Heee.]

Luckily for her Kabuto was an early riser. He'd been looking through his books again, studying as he got ready to head out to the Town Hall again, when he heard the knock and opened the door.

"Can I hel-- Ino??" Kabuto was, to say the least, surprised to see her. Not the good kind of surprised, either. "Come on, up you get..." he helped her to her feet and over to the unoccupied bed in his room, where he proceeded to pile on blankets. "How did you get sick?" he asked, not expecting an answer.

Kabuto rested his glowing hand over Ino's eyes, sending his own chakra through her body to try to at least alleviate her symptoms. "I told you I wasn't going to let you get sick," he told her. "Do you always have to argue with me?" he was trying to keep everything light, and not show that he really was worried.

"I'm sorry," Kabuto said honestly, unable to keep up his snarky facade as he focused harder. Why wasn't it going away? This wasn't right. He could feel his energy draining much faster than it should have been, and he hadn't started out with anything close to full reserves...

His eyes widened behind his glasses, and his focus snapped as he realised it. "..It is my fault, Ino. I'm so sorry." It wasn't just his healing Ino that was dragging on his power; his self-regeneration was still in effect rather than having finished and stopped. It was working harder and harder just to keep him from feeling the illness that was still attacking him inside.

"I am, somewhere," Kabuto admitted. "My chakra's really low. I didn't realize that my regeneration was still running all night. It's...whatever this is, it's not going away. I've gotten rid of it several times, and then...it comes back." He shook his head to clear it. "I'll help you, Ino. I told you I wouldn't let you get sick, after all." He settled in beside her, taking one of her hands in both of his and closing his eyes. "If you're tired, sleep...I won't be very good for conversation," he warned her.

Kabuto didn't respond, his breathing deep, even, and trancelike. His entire focus was on the task at hand, regardless of Ino's complaints. He wasn't much of a healer if he couldn't keep one person healthy.
