Lightning Bug B3, Thursday Morning

Ino had to admit that country was not normally her music type, no. But the song that she kept finding herself singing was fun at least, and it amused her enough that Ino really didn’t see a need to try and stop.

She just kept the singing down sort of low as she sprawled out on her bed and read.

Ino snickered, humming it, and turned to the next page of her book. Kicking she could definitely do. Totally amusing, geez.

"The cabins are fun, 'cept for Katina," Ino said, willing to ramble. "Mine's called Lightning Bug, after the show, and Penelope's in the same cabin as me so it's nice--Oh! Penelope broke her curse! All by herself! And my Fandom sib, Jennifer, turns green and larger than normal, but that's just recent, Reno and I had a fight, but we fixed it, and Cable-san talked to me for the first time in months yesterday. Radio's all hyped up 'bout angels being 'round in Fandom."

She tapped her fingers. "I need to talk to Liir at some point. He's been hiding."

"Check and make sure he's not brownies again," Romeo suggested, not terribly respectfully. "I'm happy for Penelope. She was a sweet girl, despite it all. Why weren't you talking to Cable? And angels -- angels from heaven, that sort?"

[intraspective]

"Angels from heaven," she said, nodding though he couldn't see it. "And I wasn't talking to Cable 'cause he wasn't talking to me--I wasn't going to go bug him while he was being all Mayor-ly 'cause uh, yeah, not that self-absorbed to think that to him my ramble is more important than running Fandom. Penelope is so happy, you have no idea. Hurley's being dumb about it, but I think I set him straight."

A beat.

"...if he's brownies again," she said, "I'm almost tempted to eat him myself. I don't get why Makejoy wouldn't do so. I mean, she's sweet, but she's his dog. Really, most dogs I know would delightedly attack a tray of brownies."

Angels from heaven. Ino was, possibly, the worst person Romeo could ask about that, but it was something to investigate at Homecoming.

"You're matchmaking for Hurley and Penelope?" Romeo asked. "Well. Good. They always seemed happy together." Not that he knew either of them that well. "And you wouldn't think brownies would last long, given how quickly free food tends to disappear around here, dog or no."

[intraspective]

Oh yes, one of the very worst people, definitely.

"Uh," she said, having to think about that. "Ish. Sort of. They were dating before she broke her curse, but then when she broke it, Hurley started saying crap like she was too pretty for him and kinda hurt Penelope's feelings quite a bit 'cause she likes him, you know. So... I had a talk with Hurley."

A Talk, really. All things considered.

"Well," she added reasonably, "I know I probably wouldn't eat brownies if I just, like, found them on someone else's bed--oh, and brownies too, radio's been talking 'bout how Francine made brownies with, you know, pot in them and that it was somehow all Chuck's fault."

Ino could believe it--she just didn't have any actual first hand information.

"... I don't understand why Hurley would spoil his chances like that," Romeo observed. "Is she? Pretty, I mean, with the new nose."

He always asked important questions, you see.

"And I'm not surprised if Chuck's passing pharmaceuticals along. He's the sort."

[intraspective]

Oh yes, deeply important.

"I'm surprised none of the teachers have done anything yet 'bout it, honestly--'cause it's sounding kinda bad, you know? And she was always pretty," Ino said loftily. "And Hurley's an idiot."

"They don't seem to like to get involved unless they have to. I never got detention for hitting Hannibal," Romeo said. He didn't exactly mind this. "And I know, but ... you know what I meant."

[intraspective]

"Hitting someone is different," she said, shrugging a bit. "I mean, it's between you and the other person, right?"

Ino gave another shrug.

"I did know," Ino caved. "And yes, she's very pretty with her nose now."

"It is, but isn't ... oh. Chuck gave the brownies to people who didn't want them?" Romeo guessed, sounding unhappy at the possibility. "And I'm hapyp for her. She wanted that a lot."

[intraspective]

"That's what it sounds like," she said, "that he didn't tell people what was in them and offered them like they were ordinary brownies--which is, yeah, a bit different from a fist fight."

She grinned. "She did--she's so much... lighter now. It's so cute watching her."

"Chuck," Romeo sighed, shaking his head. "Well, hopefully someone will teach him his lesson."

[intraspective]

Ino's grin was a bit sharp.

"Katina and Arthur kinda beat him up," she reported. "At least, that's what Turtle and Valentine reported. But who knows if that'll keep him from it again."

Probably not, considering Chuck.

"I would talk to him if I thought he'd listen," Romeo said. "I know people like that."

[intraspective]

"You only seem like a good boy?" she teased him. "And I don't care if he did it, but seriously not cool to slip it to others."

Ino considered that.

"I laugh, though, that he got caught."

"I only seem like a good boy in Fandom," Romeo corrected. "And I agree on both points."

[intraspective]

"Oh?" she asked playfully. "How bad are you really then?"

"Too bad for a confused girl like you to hear too much about," ROmeo said, equally playful. "I might give you ideas."

[intraspective]

She stuck her tongue out at the phone.

"Do you really think I need more ideas?" Ino asked, amused. "I manage to entertain myself most of the time, what more do I need?"

"You don't have friends who will hand you a pill as easily as they'd give you a drink," Romeo said bluntly. "That's the one thing I never saw, in Fandom. If anyone does more than pot, they're far too discreet for me to catch them."

[intraspective]

She sighed, rolling over on to her stomach. "I wouldn't take it anyway," Ino said, "if they did hand me a pill. I don't like losing control."

"Of course you don't. You're a ninja," Romeo said. "You have to be sharp."

[intraspective]

Her grin went a bit wry. "Ninja are people too," she pointed out, "and some are okay with that sort of thing when they're off duty."
