[intraspective]

It was a bright, airy looking store. A very nice one, actually, once you got past all the blue. Ino supposed that it made sense, but seriously, if they'd been really trying to bring to mind water with all the blue then she’d have thought they could’ve at least gotten the right shade—but, whatever, right?

They weren’t there for the décor; they were there for the swimwear! And, seriously, they had more than enough to look at.

“You know,” Ino said to Dōjima-san, as she stepped inside, “I can’t decide if it’s impressive that they’ve got a whole store full of swimwear or not. But, wow.” Okay, leaning more to the impressed side of things.

"I guess they've got a captive audience, what with all the cruises that come through here," Dōjima answered as she took in the shop. "I brought two with me, but with as much time as I'm spending on the beach or in the pool, I need at least two more."

[intraspective]

"I've got two already," she said, snickering at being considered a captive audience, "but, well, this is totally for a good cause."

Tormenting the boyfriend definitely qualified as a good cause.

"Totally a good cause," she echoed, starting to browse the racks. "Do you have a particular style or color you prefer?"

[intraspective]

"He said purple was nice," she said, giggling and going to inspect a rack. "Mostly, I think, because it's my favourite colour which was rather sweet of him. Blue isn't bad either. Nothing, like, too..." skanky, "skimpy."

Ino's version of diplomatic. Which wasn't very. "I don't mind, like, stuff like this," she held it up and studied it. "But totally wrong colour for me."

Dōjima looked at the one Ino held up, and made a face. "Not your color," she agreed. "As a blonde, the more color the better. We don't want to fade into the background."

She started pulling some options off the rack that she thought might suit Ino. "After all, we're cute, and everyone should notice us."

"Of course," she said, putting down that one and picking out a few others that caught her eye, "people would have to be pretty, you know, slow to not notice me, and you totally, when we wanted to be noticed. We've totally got presence."

And, at least in Ino's case, volume.

"Anyone who doesn't notice us is a blind moron." In Dōjima's case, it was all about attitude.

She started picking out a few things for herself. "I think this is a good start," she laughed, heading towards the changing rooms. "You brought your phone, right? We can text Ichigo pictures as we go, and see what he likes."

[intraspective]

"Somehow," she said, giggling as she brought her things with her, "I doubt I'll get much of a reaction--he tends to freeze and then flail when confronted with things like that. But I do have my phone."

A beat.

"It's pretty cute, really. I'm not used to that in a boy."

"Sputtered text messages of 'What are you two doing?' are totally an acceptable reaction," Dōjima asserted as she slipped into one of the stalls. "It builds anticipation to see which one you really got."

"What? You don't have legions of flailing ninja ex-boyfriends?" she teased. Hrm. Green first. "I never dated a romantic before. Think it's something in the water? Getting us to pick up boys that aren't normally our types?"

That just got a laugh as she quickly wriggled into the next stall over, shutting the door and eyeing her options. Choices, choices, too many choices. She went with the really bright one. Pink.

"Never had a boyfriend back home," she admitted, "so maybe it is in the water. It's weird though, being outside the type. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't."

"I should take that back," she amended, twisting to look at herself and making a face. No. Totally no. "Romeo's the first guy I ever officially dated, but none of my 'special friends' or whatever were the romantic type, you know?"

Not that she really knew any of them that well.

"I look like I'm wearing a candy cane," was her answer, mildly horrified. "And, yeah, I get you. Ichigo's... sweet. It's totally opposite. I'm not used to the guy thinking 'bout us going out on dates and stuff."

"Ah, but are you a cute candy cane?" Dōjima teased, poking out her head. "I'm in 'army green' with a big flower on one boob."

[intraspective]

"I'm always cute," she insisted, giggling and leaning out of her stall a bit so she could see. "But even then, I don't normally look like a candy. The tag said watermelon! Only one flower? That's kinda lacking symmetry, and stuff."

It was a big difference! Or something.

"Well, I've got the other flower," she laughed, tilting the suit just enough that Ino could see the tattoo on her hip. "It's just not the right kind."

"Ooooh," she said, impressed and admiring. "Pretty. When'd you get it?"

"Spring break last year," Dōjima admitted, doing a little twirl. "Oh god, I am never having that much tequila ever again. But I've never been a very good 'Yurika', so I figured getting a oniyuri tattoo would be more my speed."

[intraspective]

She laughed, ducking back into the stall, and trying to decide which bikini to try on next.

"Wealth, pride, prosperity," she said, grinning.

"I've got wealth," she replied, completely unrepentant as she went to try on the next victim. "Pride, well, I don't lack for that, either. Ever. Much to my father's dismay."

[intraspective]

"And prosperity is never a bad thing to wish for," she said, deciding that the reddish one with beads was a lot nicer. "Though I'm sure, when you feel like it, you could be sweet."

Ino fidgeted with the straps, peered over her shoulder at the fact that the back was kinda nonexistent. "I kind of like this one."

"Usually when I want something," Dōjima confessed. "It's not genuine."

Well. Sometimes it was, but that would be weak to admit.

She frowned and adjusted the bottoms of her next choice. "Come out and let me see," she said, coming out from her stall. "Hey, does this make my hips look too big?"

[intraspective]

"That's the best way to go 'bout it," Ino declared. "Because then people don't take advantage of you so much." She fidgeted with the beads a moment longer before stepping out for inspection. Bikini inspection. That was a bit mental.

But awesomely so. "So, it's got colour--" a pause, "though not nearly so much as you do."
