Room 504, Monday Evening

Ino was in a bit of a Mood. Not really cheerful, despite being bouncy in class, but not really grumpy or anything either. Mostly thoughtful.

On the bright-side, it was mainly manifesting itself in her muttering, almost inaudibly, to her plants as she went about reorganizing them and debating if she ought to just… get rid of the extra bed entirely, somehow, as she’d been without a roommate since the summer and that sounded about fine to her.

But it wasn’t like the plants cared if she kept them on the other bed, and for the moment it was being used as stage-zero for her to put them all, and then decide from there where they ought to go.

"That's hardly important," she drawled.

"Well then I won't bother inviting you," Triela smirked.

Ino kicked her foot in Triela's direction. "I didn't say that I wasn't interested."

"Oh, no," Triela shook her head, trying to sound serious. "I understand that you don't want to waste your time on frivolous things like training."

Another kick in her direction.

"I never said that," she insisted.

"No, no, you don't have to try to spare my delicate feelings. I completely understand."

Yeah... that attempted-serious expression wasn't fooling anyone.

Ino flung a pen in her direction.

"Your delicate feelings are just going to have to deal."

Triela snatched the pen from the air out of pure reflex.

"You're a violent young woman, Ino," Triela shook her head sadly. "Always throwing things and stuff."

[intraspective]

"In some cultures," she deadpanned, "women are allowed to be violent."

"I've never heard of any," laughed the girl who knocked on doors with a shotgun.

[intraspective]

"Admittedly, the men would rather we weren't, 'cause we're way scarier than they are," she continued, with a toss of her head, "but that doesn't stop us from being violent."

"It's so nice to break things."

"I can't argue with that," Triela beamed, fingers twitching reflexively.

"If you had," Ino decided, "you'd have to have been replaced by a pod-person and I'd be kicking you so out of my room."

"You'd be trying to kick me out, maybe," Triela said with a superior grin.

[intraspective]

"Please," she said, rolling her eyes. "I've got my own tricks."

"I'm sure you do." She even managed to sound slightly condescending there... in a friendly way.

"Unlike you," she said sweetly, batting her eyes. "I've been training since I was little. I don't rely on programming to make me work."

Ino was fairly sure Triela wouldn't be insulted. It was the truth after all.

"Oh, I train a lot too. I shoot a couple of thousand rounds of ammunition a week, you know. And I don't have all those childhood memories that don't have to do with fighting cluttering up my head."

Because that was totally an advantage.

"There's more to winning than shooting," she drawled. "And I wouldn't trade my memories for nothing."

Said the girl who specialized in mind jutsu. No kidding.

"Sure. There's speed and shock." Triela understood combat tactics quite well, than you.

The memories thing she just let go.

That got raised eyebrows.

"And?"

"Speed and shock are pretty much all you need." Her tone carries a note of 'duh'. Which was true as long as you were hitting known targets in fixed locations.

Ino just...

Stared.

Triela apparently didn't notice. "But I don't think I'll have to kick your butt any time soon."

[intraspective]

Ino snorted. Considering that Triela had just told her of a rather large hole in her training--and one that Triela herself didn't seem to be aware of--Ino wasn't particularly worried about her odds.

"I'd kick yours," she said comfortably.
