Room 504, Friday Evening

After a more eventful afternoon at the welcoming picnic thing than she'd planned on, thanks to Shikamaru, Chouji and her Dad all showing up, Ino was glad to be heading back to her room. Even with company.

Maybe even especially with company.

She grinned at Chouji as she opened her door, "This is my room, so no snooping!"

Chouji wasn't snooping! In fact, he was trying to not look too closely at anything.

A girl's room. Sure, that girl was Ino, but... yeah.

"I won't," He protested.

It was fairly clean anyway, and Ino flopped down on her bed and grinned at him. "You doing all better now?"

Hesitantly taking a seat, Chouji nodded. Even though his stomach growled again.

"That stuff Shikamaru's family makes took care of it." Mostly. There was still the weight to gain back.

"I'm glad." Ino nodded, then pointed over to her desk. "There should be chocolate over there if you want some." She wasn't hungry, and so not moving. "I've eaten more junk food here in the last two months than in years back home."

Ah, food. Chouji rarely moved so fast unless food was involved.

"You like it here?" He asked, shoving a chocolate bar in his mouth.

She didn't even blink at the sudden speed. It was something she was used to. "Yeah, I do. It was really weird at first though." And still weird. She was just getting used to that. "It's... a challenge here. And fun! There's so many different types of people here."

Chouji was licking the wrapper clean now. What? He needed the calories, so sue him! "There were horses," He replied warily. "Talking horses."

"I saw them. Didn't go and talk to them though." Ino shrugged, and said with a sly grin on her face, "They're from someone else's world probably."

He had been missing Ino a lot, but that sly grin made him rethink that position. It promised bad things for him. "Isn't that confusing?"

"At first it was, but now? It's not really?" Ino said slowly, "Most of the people I've met either come from a world almost like this one, or something close enough to home that it's not too hard to get a handle of." Then she laughed, "Of course, apparently some people come from space! And one guy told me that there are giant turtles going to school here but I haven't met one."

"Are there people with big eyebrows too?" He had to ask it. HAD TO.

"No! Thank god no!" Ino burst into laughter, "But? Frighteningly? I met someone who has worse taste in clothing than Lee. I told him to get new clothes and we wound up talking about fairies."

Chouji stared. "This place really is weird."

[intraspective]

"It's fun." Ino insisted, "A while ago there were these tiny little knights, about this," she gestured with her hands, "high and it was adorable. And I got attacked by a giant bug while at work on Tuesday. Killed it with a broom."

There was still a smudge of chocolate on his fingers to distract him. "Training," Chouji replied. "Asuma-sensei has been making us train a lot."

And no, Chouji didn't seem to be terribly happy about it. He hated the running part.

"It's good for you." Ino scolded him, totally noticing his unhappiness with it, "And you need it to get back to where you were before..."

She scowled. She Wasn't Thinking about that.

"I'm getting there!" Chouji protested, looking down at his feet. It was a big Do No Talk About subject all around.

"Yeah?" Ino peeked at him, saying the first thing that came to mind in an attempt to ensure their continued avoidance of That Mission. "What 'bout we do some training before you go home again? I've been training too."

That go his attention. "Really? You're still training here?"

"Yep! I train almost everyday - not as long as at home of couse, since I've got class and work and stuff." Ino grinned.

"Asuma-sensei will be proud," Choud replied, grinning back. Even if it did mean he couldn't slack off now. Darn it.

Ha ha. If she had to work hard, then everyone had to work hard. And it was nice to see Chouji up and about like normal again.

"Don't forget to tell him!" Ino said, "I'll kick major butt by the time I get back."

Chouji nodded. He'd make sure to let Asuma-sensei know about how she was doing here.

Then he shifted about nervously for a minute. "Are you still mad at Shikamaru?"

Ino scowled at her ceiling. "Yes."

Chouji's shoulders slumped a bit. He hated when they fought.
