Room 504, Sunday Morning

“I am so glad you’re a kitten,” Ino told Liir after she’d listened to the radio broadcast. “Because, seriously, I highly doubt you’d be pleased.”

What, with radio speculating that Hannibal thought she was a whore and all of that. Ugh. And she still wasn’t sure how they’d managed to think that she’d been talking about, erm, bestiality with Jack. What was up with that? Seriously radio.

For now though, her brother was a kitten and she was more than content to just pet him and talk to him about lighter things--no need to mention how the conversation with Cal had ended, right?--and leave her door open in case anyone wanted to come by.

Okay, now she had her eyebrows raised.

"Names?"

"Inoooooo.... You can't figure it out for yourself?"

"Nuh huh," Ino said, grinning. "You've got to say it, just in case I make a mistake and guess wrong. Don't want you going back with the wrong guy, you know."

"LucasTonyDeanandAlec," Lana said very quietly and a bit indistinctly. "And it's a moot point 'cause... because it's never going to happen."

"Expect the unexpected," she said, shrugging. "Gotta make sure, you know? I don't think I've met Alec?"

"He looks exactly like Dean," Lana mumbled. "And seriously, it's all a joke, right?"

"Totally a joke," Ino assured her blithely.

...while compiling a little mental folder of on what little she knew about the four guys that had been named. In a way... it totally wasn't a joke.

Ino was such a liar.

"And completely moot, because... yeah."

"Of course," Ino agreed. "Totally won't happen."

Not that it meant she wasn't going to keep an eye out though.

"Anyway..." Lana shifted uncomfortably.

Ino leaned back against her bed, snugging with Liir-kitty for a moment.

"Hey, Lana? Can I ask you something?"

"Of course," Lana said, looking surprised. "Anything."

She petted Liir-kitty, letting his purring make her smile before shrugging.

"Do you think I push people... too hard?"

"Sometimes, yes," Lana said slowly, but honestly. "But you don't do it to be mean-spirited in any way."

"Do you think it's a bad thing?" she asked, most of her attention on the kitten in her lap. "Cal does..."

Lana tilted her head. "No. I don't think it's bad. Aggravating at times, but, no. It's just part of who you are."

Ino shrugged.

"I don't like giving up. A boy said he hated me, like, five times over yesterday, but eventually he stopped and gave me a cookie instead, so it was worth it but..."

She'd so totally won that encounter.

"Why did it matter?" Lana asked.

"Why did what matter?" Ino asked warily.

"Why was it so important for you to keep after him if he said he hated you?" Lana asked. "I just don't know why that would matter to you."

That got another shrug.

"It just did."

Lana nodded. "I think that's the thing that's kind of hard to understand. You push so much and people aren't sure why."

"Why do they need to know why? I don't get it."

Ino knew why, but the fey mood that had possessed her yesterday when talking to Cal had gone and she didn't miss it.

"They don't really, I suppose," Lana said. "But we all spend time trying to figure out why people do things that confuse us. Helps us understand how people are likely to react to us. You watch someone you don't know keeping after someone who keeps telling her to go away... makes you wonder what they'll do if they come after you."

"And maybe it was just the perfect right thing to do - to keep after that kid. I don't know. Maybe you had a reason or an instinct or something, but if other people don't know it it makes them wonder."
