Caelum A3, Monday Morning

Ino hadn't actually made it to sleep after talking to Cimorene last night, but rather, had spent most of the night out training. So, when she slipped into her alcove, it was already morning. Ino eyed her bed.

She could sleep. Probably should even.

Then she eyed the stack of books Kabuto had left behind.

Or she could read. It wasn't like she had classes today, right? No harm, no foul.

She changed into her pajamas--might as well be comfortable, right?--and curled up on her bed with one of the books. She was going to need to know this stuff if he came back. Yelling at him wouldn't be nearly so satisfying unless she knew what she was yelling about.

Ino glanced up from her--Kabuto's?--book and her eyes narrowed. "Oh, you've got to be kidding. You're here?"

"I was here first!" he retorted.

She rolled her eyes. "We moved in at the same time, honestly. Geez. And even if you did move in a little bit earlier it doesn't mean that you own the place."

"Nor do you." He moved in and flopped defiantly down on his bed. "So none of the 'you're here?'"

[intraspective]

"Well," she said, miffed, "you weren't at the campfire last night. How was I to know?"

"I don't do marshmallows and happy little campfire songs. Not my thing." He shrugged.

[intraspective]

She looked disgusted. "What? You think we were singing?"

Um. No.

Ino didn't deny the marshmallow part though.

"That's what you do at campfires."

[intraspective]

"Says who?" she wrinkled her nose at him. "It's not like there's a law or anything."

...right?

"No law, sure. But tradition, when it's this kind of thing. A group, I mean, not just a couple of buddies."

"Well," she said, with great finality, "it was only me and Cimorene last night and there was utterly no singing."

So there. Or something.

Ino yawned.

"Cimorene? Is she in this cabin too?"

[intraspective]

"Mmmmm," she nodded. "Did you know she's inflammable?"

Michael blinked.

"I'm not sure I want to know how you found that out."

[intraspective]

"Her sleeve caught on fire last night," Ino told him. "But she didn't burn. All she said was 'Oh bother!'"

"Useful", he said, thinking it over.

She shrugged. "If you're in situations where you might get burned, yeah."

"Well, you never can tell what's going to happen."

[intraspective]

"You're pessimistic today," she observed.

Another shrug. "I'm realistic."

Isabel was leaving. He was grumpy.

"You think people are likely to catch on fire often?"

"Your friend did. People do."

[intraspective]

"She only did 'cause she wasn't paying attention to the fire because she knew she was inflammable. Most people'd be more careful."

"You'd be surprised", he said with a crooked grin.
