Room 504, the Causeway, then back in Alexandria -- Monday All Day

Ino was up bight and early and neatly dressed with her hair pulled back. And pacing, and making sure she had the things she knew she'd need.

Like her Dad's credit card.

And a bit of her money from working at Wellspring, but mostly her Dad's card. Dad, Ino knew, would totally understand if it was for weapons.

Now she just had to wait for Triela to show up and they could go.

[For the shopping buddy! Up early for crazy sp, and everything past the Causeway is NFB due to distance!]

"Well," Triela admitted, "I don't do a lot of shopping on my own, but I think we can find something." She looked around for a moment then turned to Ino with an accusing grin, "Are you sure you didn't plan this? Because it looks like there's a store right over there." She illustrated her point with a nod at the giant sign.

“No way!” Ino said, turning to look. “You’re serious? I didn’t plan this at all! I wouldn’t even know where to start. Maybe Fandom just likes us or something—I’m totally not complaining.”

"Me neither. Less time wasted looking and more time spent shopping. Let's go!"

"Alright then!" Ino grinned, as she headed for the door. "Of course, we're totally allowed to spend time looking here. Shopping at it's finest!"

"As much as we want to spend," Triela agreed as she stepped inside, pausing for a moment to listen to the jingling of the bells hung on the door.

A distracted voice called from somewhere inside the store, "Can I help you?"

"Not too long though," Ino amended, "because we've got other things to do today, and I totally didn't fill out the forms saying we're staying off-island overnight."

"We're looking for a gun," she called brightly. "And, since you seem to sell those, it makes total sense that we'd be here."

It should probably be noted that in no way, shape, or form did she sound or look to be old enough to legally buy one. That wasn't going to stop her though.

"Well you've come to the right--" a big man with a bushy beard stood up behind the counter and stopped, blinking.

"My friend here needs a pistol," Triela chirped brightly, utterly ignoring the look on the man's face. "I was thinking a Glock sub-compact or maybe a Kahr if you're carrying any?"

The man blinked slowly some more. "Um... I guess I can show you what I've got..." He sounded very dubious.

Ino supposed, vaguely, that it might be odd for him have two short blonde girls wanting to look at the guns and seriously meaning to buy one.

But she didn't really see the problem. It wasn't like weapons back home were, you know, hard to come by.

"That'd be perfect," she beamed at him. "Thanks!"

Ino glanced sideways at Triela. "You realize, I hope, that you're going to have to make sure I get the right sort of gun?"

"Oh, I know," Triela nodded. "Don't worry, I'll make sure you get something that's a good fit."

As the bearded man looked through the cases he glanced up, "Did you have a caliber in mind?"

"9mm, I think would be a good choice here." Triela's voice was a bit distracted as she tried to decide precisely how she was going to convince this guy to sell two teenagers guns. She was still thinking as two pistols were set on the counter.

Ino linked her hands behind her back and watched interestedly. And tried to look like she knew exactly what they were talking about.

What? She could shoot the things, but that didn't mean she knew that much about them.

"Here we go." Triela picked up one of the pistols under the watchful eye of the man behind the counter and held it out to Ino. "This is a Glock G19. One of the most commonly used pistols in the world."

It wasn't really a very big gun, but it was bigger than the other two still on the counter. "Now wrap your hand around the pistol as if you were going to fire it, but don't put your finger inside the trigger guard. Keep your grip tight so we can see how it fits."

Well, Ino could follow directions well enough. She took the gun, just as Triela had told her to, and tightened her grip.

"It doesn't feel bad," she said after a moment, "like, it's a bit large, but not uncomfortably so, you know?"

"Not bad," Triela agreed as she reached out to gently turn Ino's hand over. "Not bad at all. Here, put that down and try this," she held up a different gun. "This is similar. It's a Glock G26. It's basically the same gun, but it's not as tall so it's easier to hide. For a lot of people that means they're too short to get a really good grip on and most people's pinkie hangs off the bottom. Let's see if yours does."

Ino took the gun and tried it, holding it the same way and turning it over in her hand. She looked amusedly at it, then at Triela. "Guess I'm special, yeah? Because I've got no problems holding this one."

"It's not always bad to have small hands," Triela laughed.

She held out the final gun that had been set on the counter. "And now the smallest of the lot. This is the Kahr PM909. It's about the same height and length as the G26, but it's thinner. That generally means you can get a better grip on it."

Ino tried this one too. "I like it," she said, considering how it felt it her hand. "It's nice, and it does fit well."

Another considering shift of her grip on the gun. "I like this one," Ino said, "but I think I like the feel of the other one better."

"Fair enough." Triela offered her the indicated pistol again. "If this is the one that feels best there are a couple of other things to check for."

The man behind the counter continued to watch with a bemused air. Triela knew what she was doing, which was rare in a kid so young. He also still wasn't sure how they thought they'd convince him to sell.

Well, there was always the option of just fleeing with the gun, but they were trying to do it legally, so whatever. They'd think of something.

"Okay," she said, handling the pistol, "so what else do I have to check for?"

"Pull the slide back so that you can get a feel for how much resistance is on the spring." Triela proceeded to walk Ino through checking comfort of the magazine release and ensuring that the slide wouldn't pinch her finger as it cycled as well as a number of other little things that most first-time gun owners never considered.

"And finally, hold it out in front of you, arm straight. See if you're really comfortable with the weight."

Ino nodded, having been paying rapt attention as Triela had shown her things that Ino would never ever would have thought mattered. Point and shoot worked well enough for her most of the time really.

Months of practice with other guns had paid off though, because when Ino held the gun out--straight out--she had to grin. "I think I'm good," she said after a minute, "I wouldn't want to hold it for hours and hours, but this isn't a problem."

"So, you want it?" Triela grinned at Ino while ignoring the amused eyeroll of the clerk.

Ino considered it a moment longer, then nodded her head. "I want this one."

"I think you've made a good choice," Triela nodded firmly as she reached out to check the little paper tag hanging from the trigger guard.

The man behind the counter chuckled, "Well, that's nice, but..."

He trailed off as Triela reached into her coat pocket and pulled out her wallet to began to peel of $100 bills. "Now it turns out that I actually have the paperwork to make the purchase legal," Triela said lightly, "But that takes time, and I'm afraid we just don't have that." She stacked enough cash for the price of the pistol with a hefty bonus on the counter.

The man swallowed and looked around the shop furtively, "Err.... how about we do this one off the books?"

Ino mentally kept track of how much Triela was paying. She so totally owed her for that.

The grin she gave the vendor probably didn't do much to reassure him though. "It's always nice to find a reasonable man, don't you think?"

That grin seemed to cause the bearded man to hesitate for a moment, but Triela added another bill to the stack and that seemed to help him make up his mind.

He pulled out a plastic gun case from behind the counter and handed it to Ino with only a hint of trepidation. "Um... pleasure doing business with you."

"Yes," Triela smirked, "It was."

She turned to Ino and gave a slight nod toward the door, "Shall we?"
