Room 504, Monday Late Afternoon

Ino was on her bed and pretending that the weekend hadn’t existed. Because she’d been a moron all weekend. The word ‘hi’ was banned from her vocabulary from now on. Yes. That’d work.

At least it had been mostly fun, though she’d bet that at least one person was totally going to mock her for being wee and chocolate obsessed. This reminded her—she had to throw out the rest of the chocolate she had in her room. Ino wasn’t going to eat it any time soon. Definitely not. No.

It had been fun. Except for the ‘mean lady’. Ino groaned. Yeah. Avoiding Lieutenant Kerrigan was right up there on her list of things to do from now on. And she had to check in with Annette at some point to see what the damage was to Annette’s room. What had they been thinking?

Oh, right. They hadn’t been.

"Evening!" He got a smile from her. "Should I be worried about catching cooties from you?" Ino asked teasingly.

The silver-haired ninja facepalmed just a little. "Are you?"

"Well," Ino said slowly, smiling more, "cooties don't seem nearly so bad today as they did yesterday."

"That's good," Kabuto replied, walking over to her. "Otherwise things might get awkward."

"Just a bit." Ino wrinkled her nose cheerfully at him.

"You aren't nearly as loud as you were as a child," He commented, smirking.

[intraspective]

"You also don't seem to think I'm nearly so dumb now," Ino said rolling her eyes. "What did you expect? I had nothing but chocolate and candy to eat all weekend. Quiet wasn't happening."

"No. You're not as stupid as you were then." Kabuto chuckled. "You're also older, which does help quite a bit."

She grinned. "And yet, you still hugged me when you were a small child. How about that."

Which, on thinking about it, was really really adorable.

"I still wasn't like some people." Kabuto might have been thinking about a certain child that had showed up randomly last year.

...Then he had to repress the memory again. Because repression was so healthy.

"It caught you off guard, anyway."

[intraspective]

"It was sweet," Ino told him. "But yes, totally off guard. I seem to recall that I was asking Deadpool-san for a hug, and not you."

"You don't want hugs from Deadpool. He'll give you cooties." Kabuto smirked. "Or it might just be awkward, since he's sleeping with the Hokage and all..."

"Cooties don't work like that," Ino said witheringly. "Deadpool-san's married. Even little me knew that meant he was cootie-free. And I can totally hug Deadpool-san if I want. I'm one of his minions."

Kabuto just facepalmed.

"Well, to each their own, I suppose. You were a very...active...child."

"I was everywhere this weekend," Ino said. "I can't believe how much ground little me could cover in a day. It was probably all the chocolate."

She shifted on her bed, making room for him to join her.

Kabuto accepted the unspoken invitation, sitting down next to Ino in the cleared space. "Are you planning on eating a little better now that you're back to normal?" he asked, giving her a sideways look. "That much chocolate really isn't good for you."

She wrinkled her nose. "I don't want to eat chocolate for, for... at least a month. Ugh. I can't believe how badly I ate."

"Good." Kabuto shifted a little, sliding his arm around Ino's shoulders. "You could stand to gain a little weight, but it's still unhealthy to do it by just eating chocolate."

She totally cuddled closer to him. "My weight's fine." Pause. "Well, 'cept for the bit I've got to get back from being stuck in the past. But it's not that much."

"Hmm," Kabuto replied noncommittally. He thought Ino was a little skinny to begin with, but he wasn't going to push the point. "Would your father have been pleased or embarrassed by how much you hero-worshipped him as a child?" he asked instead.

Really, he should be glad she weighed as much as she did. Ino could easily weigh even less.

"Are you kidding?" Ino laughed. "Dad totally loved it."

If Ino weighed less, even Kabuto would be bringing her food all the time. Because that would just be too skinny.

"That's good. Otherwise he would have had a difficult time shutting you up about it."

Ino lifted her chin and said loftily. "I could be quiet for 'Daddy' at any age."

She elbowed him. "I have a better attention span than that!"
