Dorm Grounds, Then Out & About -- Sunday All Day
Ino?
Ino had not had a particularly restful night. Even after they'd managed to get the kids to sleep, she'd dealt with the fact that… she really wasn't sure what to do about Zack, other than pretend she hadn't known he'd been faking sleep.
She hadn't really gotten much sleep and had called Reno early that morning to ask him to please take them, just for a bit, and that bit of news had effectively distracted the kids from paying too much attention to the things that were wrong.
They thought sleeping outside was great fun! That seeing Uncle Reno would be awesome. Inori reluctantly confessed that she'd called and talked to Aunt Rikku and that maybe she wouldn't be in trouble for that…?
Most importantly, though, they weren't paying attention to the way Zack wasn't himself. Inori especially had to be watched for that. Angeal—and why, she thought, had he had to show up now with that name, but Ino couldn't bring herself to get angry, just tired—was a bit too young to pinpoint the exact causes of anything wrong.
Now, after breakfast of pastries and milk and Ino spending a lot of her time as a distraction without trying to seem like one… they were waiting for Reno to show up and give them space.
Ino's fingers tightened around Zack's hand as she ruffled Angeal's hair. Inori bounced excitedly on the other side of Zack.
[For them that know who they are, yep. Modding done with permission! The OCD shall likely be a shiny growing thing. XD ]

Ino & Zack
Re: Ino & Zack
Shit, he was fearing a lot of things. But you'd never be able to tell just by looking at him. Not with that smirk on his face as he sauntered onto the grounds and up to the more or less happy family that was standing there.
"Someone ask for Uncle Reno, yo?"
Re: Ino & Zack
... Well, she was fully expecting to give him one anyway.
"Hiii!"
Give her a second...
"Where's Uncle Rude?" Big hopeful eyes stared at him. Uncle Rude was awesome. And normally with Uncle Reno. "Have you lost him? Did you know Aunt Rikku said we can maybe do explosives?"
That wasn't entirely how the conversation
still in progresshad gone . Inori was not above twisting things for her own benefit."And Uncle Rude has the best explosives!" See? She had a point!
Ino was just going to sigh. And try not to giggle as Inori chattered at Reno.

Then:
"Spores?"
That was indignant, yes.
Re: Reno & Inori & Angeal
"It was either that, or puppies," Reno replied, cracking a grin her way. "But that's too damn cuddly for anything that's half Ino, if you ask me, yo."

A PICNIC OF GREAT IMPORT
... Don't judge.
Re: A PICNIC OF GREAT IMPORT
Something about timelines getting thoroughly screwed up. And his rookies having babies. Rikku wasn't sure why Ruba hadn't shown up this weekend -- maybe since they weren't supposed to be here, the island didn't think to fetch her.
Anyway. It was a picnic, and it was going to be the best darn picnic ever. Really. She brought a basket, and food, and a blanket, and a small pile of explosives. Because Inori had asked Auntie Rikku about blowing things up, and every situation was made better with some explosives.
"Hi!" she said, waving to a huge group of people. Some of whom she didn't know. This would not stop her from being cheery. "I brought pie!"
Pie: it was kind of like explosives, that way.
Re: A PICNIC OF GREAT IMPORT
Rikku probably recognized that voice as the one who'd babbled at her yesterday, yes, as a little girl flung herself gleefully in Rikku's direction.

"Pie is good," he offered, twitching a bit of a smile. "What kind?"
... Sound a little less excited, Zack. You're going to scare people.

Reno could have Zack! It'd be a fair trade!

Except for mull over the fact that, perhaps, she needed to work on that how to avoid children book with Ender a bit more. Funny how they'd been talking about it just earlier that day...
So she was just going to be... awkward. On the side. And wonder what on earth she was supposed to say to the group of people she… barely knew.
This would be fantastic. Truly.
Re: A PICNIC OF GREAT IMPORT
What? It wasn't like Rikku was the only one who was going to end up with a small child being launched at her.
"You came! Hi! Look, there are cookies!" And now Angeal was going to wave one of those cookies at her. "I like this place! There's a beach here, did you see it?"

He was remedying this freaking out thing with potato salad.
Lots, and lots, and lots of potato salad. Because if he was shovelling food into his mouth, then he couldn't slip up and say something completely freaking stupid.

Ino was totally going to use this time, being temporarily free of kids as they'd flung themselves at other people, to kinda fall over on a corner of a blanket and stare up at the sky.
This weekend was tiring.

"Can you wave hi?" she asked, softly. Veld dutifully waved, then ducked his head back against her shoulder. Large crowd: time to play bashful.
Re: A PICNIC OF GREAT IMPORT
Zack could pull him out of his funk for a moment in order to nod at Elena and the little bundle of adorable in her arms, and then offer a twitch of a smile.
"He's got his dad's eyes," he offered.
The father was obvious, here, after all.
