Room 504, Monday Early Evening

After talking to Reno, and maybe considering if she ought to phone Romeo because she hadn't heard from him in a while and at the same time idly wondering if maybe she should get out and about for a bit because Ino really was bored and kinda missing the rush of adrenaline that came from killing monsters and really wished that she could, like, get a mission or something from back home and…

You know what?

Chocolate, jammies, and flowers. There. She was well set for the evening and if people wanted to entertain her, well, she was totally okay with that.

"Ino!" Romeo said cheerfully. "You sound happy. Tell me something good."

Psychic. Yes. Not physic.

"I have a lot of good!" she enthused. "And you, I was thinking 'bout you, and that's kinda weird but awesome, just so you know. And--guess what I did over break?"

Ino totally wasn't going to wait for him to guess.

"I got to use magic." If sparkles could be words, her words would be sparkling right there.

He could be physic, too! Romeo had many facets.

"Magic?" Romeo echoed, since she'd saved him the trouble of guessing.

Not that he had a guess beyond 'not going to New York', but anyhow.

"What sort?" he asked instead. "I've used Reno's electrorod but that hardly counts."

"Zappy magic!" she bubbled. "I guess, sorta like Reno's? But Zack gave me a Thunder materia for Christmas and I got to zap stuff with it! It is awesome and he says I'm pretty good! Zack is my hero for it 'cause now I got magic of my own."

Pink sparkly hearts at that.

Romeo laughed, not because it was funny so much as it was because the best way he had to express enthusiasm. "Best gift for an Ino," he decided. "What did the Thunder materia do?" A pause as he thought over all of what she'd said. "Wait, are you seeing Zack now? Zack who took Reno's place in the reserves?"

"No! Absolutely not seeing him! We're just friends. He's dating my sib, Jen," because Ino hadn't gotten the memo that they'd broken up yet and so totally believed that, "but he's just--super nice, you know? So we've been talking a lot and he got me a present." And she'd kissed him, once. And held his hand. But...

Whatever. Yes. Denial was a shiny thing.

A beat.

"And Thunder lets me shoot lightning bolts from my fingers!"

Because clearly Ino needed more ways to be violent.

"That is cool." What? Romeo knew slang, and sometimes it was the only wording that would do. "It's like having superpowers for as long as it works. I may make you send me some."

Because him teaching himself to use it would be a great idea, yes.

Ino raised her eyebrows, not so sure of the greatness of that idea.

"Or you could come visit," she wheedled, "and try it out here where people won't think you're crazy for it! And Reno'd probably be able to get some easier than me--I got just the one, you know?"

"Portal tickets to Fandom aren't cheap," Romeo noted.

As if he ever paid attention to money. He was already all but packed in his mind.

"I could call Triela," he said thoughtfully. "I promised to see how she was doing with gun club, anyhow. And it never hurts to see that Arthur and Leto haven't actually killed each other yet..."

"Ooooh," she said, smirking. "Have you seen her new look? Bit of a shock, that!"

A beat.

"And portals aren't too bad if you go through a hub," she said, because Ino was a lot cheaper than Romeo was with money, yes. "Just crowds are evil sometimes."

Like around Christmas.

"I haven't seen her lately," Romeo said. "Why, what did she do? Did she finally comb out the pigtails?"

He'd been advocating for that a year ago.

He grimaced and whined, "The last time we tried that, they said the closest hub is in one of the Tokyos with Gojira."

Ino just had to giggle that that. "In a way? Yes. Combing out pigtails."

And was oh so thrilled about it too.

"Where's your sense of adventure?" she protested. "That sounds like fun! I mean, if the hub's operational then you can't be in that much danger, right?"

"I'll have to stop by and see her," Romeo decided. "I know Yurika will be pleased, too."

He sighed at her protest. "Do you really want me to take a chance on being smashed flat to save some coins?"

"Weeell, when you put it that way... no," Ino admitted. "I mean, I'd take the chance, but I'd rather you didn't."

She liked Romeo living and healthy!

"Does that mean you're coming to visit?" Ino asked brightly. "For sure-ish?"

"It means I am not ruling it out," Romeo said. "I'll ask Yurika and try to pick a weekend. Are there any when you won't be there?"

"Not that I know of?" she said, with a bit of a sigh. "No plans for me that are more than 'go and buy ice cream' and such."

"I'll even buy you ice cream, when I do come," Romeo said grandly. "And perhaps I'll be lucky and it'll be a normal weekend."

"Mmmm," Ino hummed. "Maybe I should be buying it, if you're spending the money to come and visit?"

She smiled. "Let me know what you guys decide, yeah? And tell Dojima-san I say hi and all of that."

"And you do have about fifteen jobs, and I don't have one...." Romeo pointed out lightly. "Of course I will. Not much is new here, by the by. I'll be in touch."

"I'll demand a full accounting of your life next time," she threatened, cheerfully ignoring the quip about jobs. "So you'd better have a good story to tell me then!"

"I'll make one up if I don't live one out," Romeo promised. "Bye, Ino."

"Bye," she said, smiling softly.
