Boys were dumb. But she knew that already. It was just the degree of dumb that differed from boy to boy.

Which is why Ino was perfectly happy to level a long glare that the wall that connected her room to Romeo’s and then go back to murmuring silly nonsense to her plants that yes, she was back, and she’d missed them, and weren’t they just darling for being so good and looking so well for her?

Yes, yes they were. So she turned on music for them, left the door open for her, and went about unpacking her things and humming along with the radio.

"Depends on the person," Ino noted, stretching. "And more guard down is always a good thing."

"Somehow I don't think showing of my negligible 'assets' is going to do anything but make people snicker." Triela knew she looked good dressed up, but that's not the same thing at all.

"It's all about attitude," she said, a bit severely. "And people seeing a barely dressed girl, assets or not, are going to lower their guard."

Triela just lifted an eyebrow doubtfully. "I'd rather be armed," she decided.

"That's what hand-to-hand is for."

"Inefficient," Triela dismisses easily. "Fine for a last resort, but only then."

You could kill way more people way faster with a gun.

She snorted. "Match your weapons to your mission, geez."

Triela turned to look at Ino. Her eyes cooled slightly. "I am the weapon, Ino."

A flick of her eyes and a distinctly unimpressed look followed that pronouncement.

"Do you practice that?" she asked. "So that when people say things you can say that and expect them to shut up? 'Cause, really, I might just be a Genin but even I know you match your output to the required mission level. Overkill is amateurish and a waste of resources."

Her grin sharpened. It wasn't that friendly. "I'm sure a very clever weapon like you could figure that one out."

Triela's eyes stay cold, but she actually smiled. It wasn't any friendlier than Ino's.

"I do the missions I'm given. Perfectly." It was a point of pride. Triela did not screw up a mission. And Ino had no business suggesting otherwise.

"So you say." Ino was perfectly pleased to insinuate all she wanted about Triela's mission success rate. "Not like I've seen you, but your training seems awfully..."

Oh, how best to say it?

"Limited." And it was even her real opinion. Just dripping with a condescending drawl.

Triela straightened, hands clenching, face completely expressionless.

"Try me sometime."

Oh, that was just too easy--and people said she was easy to rile up.

"You're on," she said, with a toss of her head.

That did get an expression. Triela grinned. It was a hungry sort of expression.

"Good."
